Online Dating -
Good as a Blind Date or Better?
There can surely come a time when a friend of yours realizes that
you would need assistance to improve the social aspect of your
living. And she may just hook you up on a blind date with some
distant friend of hers. What happens next that within 60 minutes
of knowing that person you are with that very person in a
restaurant which you do not prefer that much? And to top it up all
she starts off on a topic that you are least interested in. You
find out that you are in front of a person who has probably by
hearted the program timings for the entire week while you rarely
sit in front of the idiot box as you are into running long
distances and doing a bit of social service. The worst is yet to
come and it finally arrives when he points out that being a
volunteer is absolutely useless as you cannot assist the people
directly at all. After hearing all this you have a glance at your
watch just to find out that you had a look just moments ago and
then you just calm yourself and wait for the date to end. Does
this sound familiar at all?
On the other hand think of a meeting with someone you have met
online. You have been in touch for sometime and know quite a bit
about them as you have been interacting via chat or communicating
via emails. The situation turns out to be quite different as you
will not need a formal introduction and you end up going to a
place which both of you like, something like Italian food which
you both swayed about while chatting. Both of you have quite a bit
to share, a lot of topics to talk about, your interests lay in the
same things and you find out that running long distances and
interest in the past is a common factor as well. They appreciate
your volunteering and offers to join as well and finally you just
happen to look at you watch which says that you are already very
late but you just do not understand where time is lost.
Whenever you think about a blind date there is always a mediator
who feels that you could probably be compatible with another
person he/she may know or might have heard about. There is no
particular involvement of yours in deciding who will be your date
but it is generally an friend who has probably thought some good
for you however while dating a person whom you have met via the
internet you at least are involved in the process of selection of
your date and tend to know a bit about the person you are about to
meet and you know that there are quite a few things that you share
or can talk about. It is then up to you to decide which is a
better option. Well both can be equally exciting but may be one
can involve a bit more risk taking ability than the other! |
